Linda's Hats for the Homeless -How You Can Help

The following Lens Sighting is about grandma_deal 's Hats for the Homeless and Crochet Angel Lenses.  Linda Deal (aka grandma_deal on Squidoo) uses her talents to help homeless keep warmer in the winter.  She also sells her creation and uses the funds to help with materials and other expenses that are not donated to her.  Have some yarn?  Need some fingerless gloves or an amazing gift for someone (or yourself)?

Welcome to Linda's Hats for the Homeless.

An estimated 100 million people worldwide are homeless. So many cold heads - so little time. We lose 20% of our body heat through our head. Let's help the homeless keep warmer this winter.

You can help keep some of these people a little warmer by donating yarn to be made into hats, or donating already-made hats, and gloves. If you like to knit or crochet and need a project, this is a very worthwhile one. There are a lot of free crochet patterns on the internet or I can recommend a good pattern book, which I use. It is "Quick Caps" from Leisure Arts.

This would also be a good project for school or Sunday school classes, Girl or Boy Scout troups, any club or organization.

Someone I admire (JaguarJulie) has encouraged me to start a shop on Etsy to sell my Earth Friendly Shopping Bags.

I gave the idea some careful consideration. After all, I do have my "Hats For Homeless" project to consider. The concept of having my own little shop is so exciting, I decided to go for it. I can make a hat for the homeless, then make something for my shop. If I keep alternating like that, I should have plenty of hats to donate and plenty of things for my shop.

JaguarJulie also suggested I do more than just Shopping Bags. I have thus added some of my favorite things to make: a smaller tote bag with charms, fingerless gloves, scarves and caps.

I would like to give JaguarJulie a public great big "THANK YOU, JAGUARJULIE, FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT."

Also, I would like to give credit to Kirsti, aka Comfortdoc, for suggesting I make a lens about my shop. "THANK YOU, COMFORTDOC."

There's a link list for both of these good ladies a little further down.  READ MORE

Help this fabulous lady make a difference.  Even going to and reading/commenting and sharing her lenses will help her cause as well.  Share and Pray more homeless are warmer this winter.

Brightest Blessings,

Deb Bryan (AKA GypsyOwl)
